Obituary of Margaret Joan Matheson

MARGARET JOAN MATHESON Margaret Joan (nee Friel) born August 3, 1928 in Winnipeg, MB, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Regina, SK. She was predeceased by her parents Jack and May (Scrase) and husband William Roy Matheson (2012). Joan is survived by her sons: Garth, Bruce (Pat), Scott (Vancouver, BC) and daughter Alison; grandsons: Dallas and Thomas and great grandson Silas; sisters-in-law: Joan Whiteley (Qualicum Beach, BC) and Patricia Matheson (St. Catharines, ON); nephews: Hon Russell MacKay (Chilliwack, BC), Douglas Matheson (Saskatoon, SK); nieces: Janet MacKay (Cloverdale, BC) and Lisa Matheson (St. Catharines, ON). Joan spent her early years in Regina and Innisfail, AB and attended Mount Royal College in Calgary, AB. She was an active volunteer with the MacKenzie Art Gallery and the MacKenzie Art Gallery gift shop and several other charities. Joan enjoyed golf, curling and playing bridge with her friends. She and Bill enjoyed travelling in their later years and visited England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Russia, Finland, Australia and the United States. The family wishes to express their appreciation and thanks to Dr. Cheryl Zagozeski for the wonderful care over the years.
