Obituary of William Alfred Ford

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather at the age of 95 years. Bill was born in Pont y Cymmer, South Wales on October 31, 1913. His family moved to Bristol, England shortly thereafter. In 1923, the family came to Canada moving to Regina around 1930. In 1940, he married his wife, Helen Kippan. Bill was employed at the Regina General Hospital, for 42 years. After retirement, Bill and Helen enjoyed many years of traveling especially to Brownsville, Texas, during the winter months. Bill was a man of integrity, with a strong sense of justice. He felt it was necessary to stand up for what he believed and he lived this philosophy throughout his life most notably in his membership with the Anglican Church and in his union activities. Bill was predeceased by his wife Helen; son-in-law Ross; grandsons, Patrick and Gerry. He was also predeceased by his parents, Will and Ethel Ford; brothers, Leonard and Kenneth; and sister Agnes. He is survived by his daughters, Beverley (Jim) Laturnus of Chilliwack, and Janet Harris of Estevan; grandchildren, David (Katarina), Russ (Barb Allan) and Keith Laturnus, Theresa (Kevin) Beck, Cathy (Scott) Rains Davis and Barb (Brian) Wright. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Adam, Veronica and Morgan Beck, Ryley and Caden Davis, Sarah and Meghan Wright, and William and Benjamin Laturnus. Funeral Service will be held at St. Matthews Anglican Church, 2161 Winnipeg Street, Regina on Monday, August 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Derek Nicholls officiating.
