Obituary of George 'Douglas' Laing

George Douglas? Laing Douglas, late of Bethune, died on August 1, 2009 after a brief illness. He is predeceased by his parents James and Mary Isabella Laing; four sisters, Margaret Davidson, Alice Laing, Isabel Gardiner, and Laura Joorisity; brothers James, in infancy, and Stuart; and daughter-in-law Heather Laing. Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Vera; sons Bevan and his children Jim, and Susan (Drew) McIntosh, Bruce (Sarah) and their daughter Claire, Clark (Lorinda) and their daughter Lani; three sisters Violet Yates, Lillian McArton and Beatrice Struthers; and sister-in-law Reva Laing; as well as many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held for Douglas on Wednesday, August 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bethune Community Hall, with Rev. Dexter Van Dyke and Darrell Reine officiating. Flowers gratefully declined.
