Obituary of John Melnychuk

MELNYCHUK, JOHN It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather on August 19, 2009 at the age of 91 years with the family by his side. He was predeceased by his parents, Eli and Adokia (nee Marusik); brothers, Bill, Mike and George; sisters, Mary, Annie and Katrina. He was born on December 22, 1917 on the family farm in the Sheho, SK district. He is survived by his wife Annie of 67 years as well as his three sons, Archie (Teresa), Kenneth (Diana) and Wade; granddaughters, Jodi (Fausto) Rodriguez, Lorena (Justin Regel); great-grandchildren, Dawson, Sofie, Cash and Max. He is also survived by sister, Alice; sisters-in-law, Elsie Melnychuk, Mary Koshman, Katie Rudey, Myrna Stadnyk; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was an active member of the Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Regina and the Ukrainian community volunteering endless hours at the church and the Orthodox Auditorium. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Ian Hill and the Pioneer Village Three West staff for their compassionate care. Prayers will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Service will be held on August 24, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1305 12th Avenue, Regina with Rev. Fr. Brent Kuzyk officiating. Private family interment to follow in the Sheho Holy Trinity Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing to do so may make a donation in Johns memory to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., www.alzheimer.sk.ca, #301 " 2550 12 Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
