Obituary of Jennie Hrycyk

Jean passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 7, 2009 at Sunset Extendicare Regina at the age of 87 years. Predeceased by her parents, John and Annie, Sister Olga and brothers Mike and Alfred. Jean is survived by her brother Nicholas (Lilla) White Rock B.C., sister in law Betty Hrycyk, Regina; nephew Doug (Sherry) Hrycyk Saskatoon, their children Sarah, Joel and Marisa; niece Joan Hrycyk of Regina and her son Daniel; nephew David Hrycyk of Medicine Hat Alberta. Jean grew up in Canora and worked in Kamsack and Yorkton. Eventually she and her sister Olga moved to Regina. She worked at the Hotel Saskatchewan for many years and then worked at Santa Maria Nursing Home when it first opened in 1968 until her retirement in 1988. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on September 9, 2009. Funeral Service will be held at Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Orthodox Church Sabor (1305-12th Avenue, Regina) at 10:00 a.m. on September 10, 2009 with Reverend Father Brent Kuzyk officiating. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Sunset Extendicare for their compassion and care they provided to Jean for the past two and one half years.
