Obituary of Irene Mary Margaret Gordon

IRENE MARY MARGARET GORDON (BARTH) March 23, 1923 " September 25, 2009 On Friday, September 25, 2009 Irene passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years after a long and painful battle with Alzheimers. Irene was born in Khedive, Saskatchewan and raised in the Pangman area. She obtained her teaching certificate and taught at Fell School where she met and married her lifetime companion, Roy Gordon. Together they raised five sons on the family farm at Dahinda, Saskatchewan. Irene had many interests including playing cards, Homemakers, reading, square dancing, cooking, gardening, baking, travelling, visiting with friends and of course, looking after her sons and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Roy; parents, Stephen and Kathleen Barth; parents-in-law, Thomas and Willimeta Gordon; sister, Rose; brothers, George, Rudy, Lawrence and Harvey; son, Clifford; and daughter-in-law, Kay; great-granddaughter, Samara; and in-laws, Lyle Johnson, Tom Merritt, Maureen Barth, Ida and Hans Ohm and Ardell Melchert. She is survived by sons, Glenn (Debbie), Lorne (Patricia), Garnet (Kathy) and Blaine; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ady Johnson and Loretta Merritt; brothers, Harold (Doreen), Walter (Vera), Steve; and sister-in-law, Edith Melchert. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff of 4 West, Pioneer Village for the loving care and compassion given to our Mother.
