Obituary of Helen Madeline MacDonald

MACDONALD, Helen Madeline (Fraser), died on the morning of 29 September 2009, at her home in Regina. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on 28 April 1926, Mrs. MacDonald attended Holy Rosary School and Sacred Heart Academy in Regina. She completed her secondary education at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Post-secondary study was at Regina College and the School of Journalism at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Prior to her marriage in 1947, Mrs. MacDonald was a continuity writer at CKCK Radio in Regina. Mrs. MacDonald was a member of the Holy Rosary Cathedral Catholic Womens League, the Mackenzie Gallery Volunteers, and Government House Historical Society. She was a past member of Campion College High School Ladies Auxiliary, the Grey Nuns (Pasqua) Hospital Lady Patronesses, the Fraser Pipe Band and the Regina Highland Dance Society. Predeceased by: her loving husband Hon. Raymond Alexander MacDonald, Q.C., M.B.E., on 1 November 1991; her parents John A. and Bertha Fraser, and brother Thomas Wynne Fraser; her brother and sister-in-law Mr and Mrs. A.J. MacGillivray. Mrs. MacDonald is survived by: her daughter Susan of Lumsden; her sons Alex (Catherine Arthur) of Regina, Rod (Lynn) of Radville, and Iain (Barbara) of Regina; eleven grandchildren Ross (Christine) and Sine (Travis) MacDonald, Alex, Lisa, Katie (Michel) and Kirsten Rasmussen, James and Colin MacDonald, Eilidh, Ruaridh, and Duncan MacDonald; great grandchildren Fynley Calder-Rasmussen, Quinn and Maddison Bouchard; sisters-in-law Sister Marion MacDonald of Vancouver and Clarice McCashin (James) of Regina; nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and the United States. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel on Sunday, 4th October 2009, at 8:00 pm. The Celebration of Life mass will be held at Holy Rosary Cathedral on Monday, 5th October 2009, at 10:30 am. Interment will be beside her beloved husband in Riverside Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank for their kindness those who responded to the 911 call, including firefighters, paramedics, police officers, coroners office, and those who helped with arrangements, including Holy Rosary Cathedral, Speers, and Henderson Caf.
