Obituary of Kelvin Joseph Kirkpatrick

After a lengthy but courageous battle with cancer, Kelvin (Kelly) Joseph Kirkpatrick, passed away quietly in the early hours of October 11, 2009 at the Regina Pasqua Hospital. Kelly was born in Moose Jaw on June 17, 1963 the youngest of six children. He grew up near Truax and spent most of his adult life in Avonlea. His greatest love and source of pride was his four children. He was a devoted, patient and loving father. Cancer in his early thirties put a stop to some of his athletic interests but he never lost his love for sports. He worked for the Department of Highways for thirty years until his illness caught up with him this past August. Kelly was predeceased by his mother, Irma Kirkpatrick, whom he missed greatly. He often took his children to her grave to remind them of their grandmother while tending it with flowers and lights to be sure she was well remembered. He is survived by his son Jake and his partner Nicole Crumley and her daughter Elizabeth; children Carter, Traylen, Colby and their mother Deb Penner. In addition he is lovingly remembered by his father, Jim; sister Lynn (Marcel) Baumet; brothers Frank (Debra), Jack (Joan), Ken (Janey), Dan (Adrienne) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Kelly, a quiet and sensitive man, was well loved. Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church in Claybank, Saskatchewan on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the Truax Cemetery. For those wishing to honour his life in a meaningful way, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society for research into the cure of this persistent and cruel disease.
