Obituary of Orville Harold Sturby

STURBY " Orville Harold passed away October 19, 2009 at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, SK. at the age of 80 years. He will be dearly remembered by his wife Agnes (nee Panchuk) of 58 years, daughter Marilyn, son Marvin and grandson Adam, brother Alexander (Elaine), sisters-in-law Mary, Doris and Jean Sturby, brother-in-law Michael Wyslobicky and numerous nieces and nephews. Orville was predeceased by his parents Wasyl and Wasylena (nee Timchuk) Sturby, brothers Bill, John, Sam, Walter, sisters Mary Danyluk, Sally Ewanus and Jessie Wyslobicky, sister- in-law Shirley Sturby, and brothers-in-law John Danyluk and Michael Ewanus. Orville was born December 17, 1928 at Gronlid, Sask. Following completion of his education, he farmed with his parents. In 1951 he married Agnes Panchuk, they continued to farm until 1955 when Orville entered Manitoba Technical Institute in Winnipeg, graduating as a Flight Service Operator in 1957. During his tenure with the Flight Services, he was employed with Canada Transport in Winnipeg, Prince Albert Sask., and Churchill Man. from 1957 to 1963, and Regina Aeradio flight services from 1963 to 1980 and a six month tour of duty in Resolute Bay in 1969. The family worked and resided in Regina from 1963 to the time of his retirement. Some of Orvilles personal accomplishments were being privileged to work for the Federal Civil Service, Canada Transport in the area of Air/Marine traffic control and the writing and publishing of the Sturby Family History in 1982, as well as the organization of two family reunions in 1983 and 1987. Upon retirement, the family enjoyed travelling throughout Canada and the United States, worked in Real Estate sales and as a crop insurance adjuster from 1982 to 1987. In 1986 to 1992 he volunteered his services with the Ukrainian Orthodox Housing Corporation as a treasurer in the construction of Selo Gardens and Selo Place, then continued as a member of the Board of Directors until 1997. He is cherished in memory by his wife Agnes, children Marilyn and Marvin and grandson Adam. May he rest in peace. Funeral Rite will be held at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Descent of the Holy Spirit, 1305 " 12th Ave., Regina, SK. on October 26, 2009 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Brent Kuzyk officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Regina. Requiem (Panachyda) will be held at the Church on October 25, 2009 at 7p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Orville may be made to the charity of your choice.
