Obituary of Bella Romanuik

Bella passed away peacefully at Parkside Extendicare. Bella was predeceased by her husband, Bill (William); parents, John and Dora Woodwood; brothers, James, and George (Joyce). Bella is survived by her daughters, Judith (Ivan) Jorgensen, Janette (David) Cross all of Regina, Jerene (Doug) Chorel of LaFleche and by her nieces and nephews in Ontario. Bella was born in Wroxton, Saskatchewan on the family farm. When Bella was four, the family moved to Regina. Bella attended Kitchener School and later Balfour Technical High School. Bella was the oldest of three children; therefore, in the 1940s when grandfather contracted Tuberculosis, Bella quit school to find a job and support her mother and brothers. She worked as a waitress at the LaSalle Hotel. Bella married Bill Romanuik September 1, 1945. Bella was involved in the Imperial Home and School Association as Secretary and was always willing to help out with school events. In later years, Bella was involved with St. Michaels Ukrainian Orthodox Church; she sang in the choir and worked with the ladies in the kitchen for special events. Bill and Bella loved to travel to Hawaii. Bella was a great Roughrider fan and supported the team " her and Dad went to many Grey Cups. She was a caring person and a terrific hostess. Bella always made sure her guests were well fed and had a drink when they visited her home. Bella will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all that shared in her life. Thank you to all the staff at Parkside Extendicare for their care and kindness during Moms stay. Requiem (Panachyda) will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 6, 2009. A Funeral Rite will be held at St. Michaels Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 2075 McDonald Street, Regina at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009 with Fr. Brent Kuzyk officiating.
