Obituary of Frank Sestan

On Wednesday, January 6, 2010, Frank Sestan passed away at the Regina Hospital at the age of 82. Frank was born on September 14, 1927 in Orehovica, Croatia (Yugoslavia). Predeceased by his parents Viktoria and Gabor Sestan, sisters Yozeda and Kristina, wife Robina Sestan and longtime partner Doreen Reid. His sisters Marija Borko, Franciscka Novak and their familes survive him in Croatia. He is survived in Canada by his stepdaughter Ruby Jane Childs (Roy), grandchildren David Childs (Linda Azevedo), Stephen Childs (Lori), Murray Childs, and Heather Childs Stewart (Sam Stewart), great-grandchildren Larissa Childs, Michael Childs, Elizabeth Childs, Crimson Childs, Brandy Childs, Kyle Silva, Jozefa and Alzira Azevedo and great-great-grandchildren Nyamal and Elijah Tuel. Frank is also survived by special friends Bridget Beiber, Jennifer Childs, Sheri Childs and Frank Biasutto. Frank came to Canada in 1956 and worked in construction as a Bulldozer Operator. In 1971 he started work in the Maintenance Department of the University of Saskatchewan (Regina Campus) and remained there until his retirement in 1992. He joined First Baptist Church in 1965 and was very proud of being an usher there until 2005. Frank enjoyed bowling for many years in various leagues. He was an avid wrestling fan who was a true joy to watch, as he watched the wrestling. It was almost as if he were in the ring during the match. Frank loved to travel - his favorite place was Hawaii (Waikiki). His family and friends will truly miss him. Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 2241 Victoria Avenue, Regina SK on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Mark G. McKim officiating. Interment at Regina Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined.
