Obituary of Edward Joseph Beaudry

With family at his side, Ed passed away peacefully at Extendacare Parkside home on January 30, 2010 at the age of 83 years. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Emily; two children, Margaret (Glenn) Brunet of Medicine Hat, AB and Paul Beaudry and special friend Nuala Power of Prince George, BC; two granddaughters, Marissa Brunet of Medicine Hat, AB and Lauren Brunet of Edmonton, AB; siblings Leo Beaudry of Orlando, Florida, Earl (Eunice) Beaudry of Cut Knife, SK, Dorothy (Pat) McKeown of Sherwood Park, AB and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Telesphore Beaudry and Margaret Beatch, sister Rita Bru, brothers Lawrence, Charles and Leonard Beaudry and brothers-in-law Angus McDonell and George Bru. Ed was born in Cut Knife, SK, November 23, 1926. He attended elementary school in Cut Knife and Battleford and high school at St. Peters College in Munenster, SK. Ed attended university and business college in Saskatoon, then accepted employment as an accountant at Marshall-Wells Co. Ltd. He met and married Emily Koch in Winnipeg, MB in 1956. Shortly after that, they transferred back to Saskatoon. During the nine years they were in Saskatoon, both Margaret and Paul were born. In 1965, Ed was transferred to Regina. After twenty years with Marshall-Wells, he began working at Revenue Canada Taxation where he worked until retirement in 1981. Retirement for Ed meant volunteer work. He continued to be the accountant at St. Peters RC Parish and became the business manager at Blessed Sacrament RC. Not yet having a full plate, he also took on the role of visiting the sick and shut-ins to distribute communion. Ed and Emily were also involved in the Pastoral Care Ministry at the General and Pasqua Hospitals and were part of the first class of the RC Lay Ministries Formation Program. Ed cared for his neighbours by ensuring that their sidewalks and driveways were shoveled. He retained his dignity and gentle ways even into the depths of decline. Ed was loved and will be missed by many. The family would like to thank the staff at Extendacare Parkside, his doctors at the Stapleford Clinic and Mavis Palmer for their extraordinary care during Eds failing health. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 3rd at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peters RC Church on Thursday, February 4th at 10:00 AM, Fr. J.B. Okai officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Alzheimers Society of Saskatchewan, 301 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1 or to a charity of your choice.
