Obituary of Frederick Thomas Leach

Frederick Thomas Leach died peacefully in Regina on January 30, 2010 after suffering a stroke. Fred is survived by his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth and three daughters: Jane (Bill) Swalling, Denver, CO., Sandra (Rob) Rendall, Regina and Sharon (Yvan) Lebel, Saskatoon and 6 grandchildren: Graham and Ian Swalling, Jay and Julie Rendall, Olivier and Julien Lebel. He is also survived by his brother Don of Jocotepec, Mexico, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Helen Courtney of Saskatoon, and his nieces and nephews: Trent Leach and Karen Fletcher, Joanne Green and John Courtney. He was predeceased by his infant son, Tommy and his parents, Irene and Tom Leach. Fred was president of F.T. Leach Brokerage for over 50 years and was active with the Food Brokerage industry serving as President of the Canadian Food Brokers Association. He was a member of the N.W.M.P. Lodge #11 A.F. & A.M., and the WA WA Shrine Motor Patrol. He was a loyal supporter of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and served as coordinator of the Presidents Lounge for the club. He was a member and Past President of the Assiniboia Club. Fred continued to enjoy fellowship and involvement with his church community, the Regina Rotary Club and the Regina Executive Club. He enjoyed bird hunting and was a long time member of Ducks Unlimited. Fred was an avid fisherman and loved to golf. His faithful Schnauzer, Hayley, was a great source of companionship. Special times were spent at the family cottage at Lakeside, Katepwa Lake for over 56 years, where he especially cherished time with his grandchildren and family. His enthusiastic and fun-loving approach to life inspired our family and will always be remembered. Special thanks to Dr. Fouche Williams for his compassionate care and the care staff at 5A, Regina General Hospital. A Memorial Celebration of Freds life will be held at St. Pauls Cathedral, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with The Very Rev. James D. Merrett officiating. The interment will be held in the summer at All Saints Anglican Church, Katepwa. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, #301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1 or to the St. Pauls Building Faith Fund, 1861 McIntrye Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R2.
