Obituary of Thomas Oakley Pardy

It is with overwhelming sadness the family of Thomas Oakley Pardy announces his passing on February 5, 2010 in Regina, SK at the Pasqua Hospital, with his family by his side, at the age of 87 years. Thomas was born on February 11, 1922 in Cartwright, Labrador. He was predeceased by his parents Manuel and Mae; daughter Glenda; brother Manuel; sister Muriel; brother-in-law Bert; and one grandson. Thomas leaves to mourn his cherished wife of 58 years, Alice; daughter Marilyn (Edmund) MacLean; sons: Wayne (Karen), Derek (Vickie), Lorne (Kim), and Gary (Brenda); grandchildren: Aaron (Ania), Christian, Landon, Robyn (Justin), Taylor, Ashton, Ryan, Brandon, and Dylan; brother Les (Phoebe), sisters, Blanche (Don) and Olive; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many loving friends. Thomas worked in many trades including: a salmon collector for Hudson Bay Co., the fur trade - raising fox with his father, construction of Goose Air Base during WWII for the U.S. Air Force, managing director of a theatre company, taxi owner/operator, power plant operator for the township of Happy Valley, and finally prior to retirement, as supervisor at Newfoundland, Labrador Hydro. He was also an accomplished sign painter. Dad lived life to the fullest and loved the outdoors including passions of hunting and fishing. Dad also proudly owned a dogsled team, transporting doctors along coastal communities in this way. Dad and Mom moved to Regina on September 12, 1990 to live closer to their family. Dad was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles and scrabble. He drew great delight in entertaining and making those he loved laugh in his company. Requiem Eucharist for Thomas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2010 in St. Pauls Cathedral, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina, with The Very Rev. James D. Merrett officiating. Donations may be made in memoriam to the Building in Faith Fund, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R2.
