Obituary of James Axtell

James, died peacefully on February 8, 2010 with family and friends by his side. James is predeceased by his father Charles James, his mother Elizabeth, sister Thelma, brother Barney, step-brothers Usher and Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Olive, son Richard (Bobbi), daughter Susan Haacke (Brian), grandchildren Sean Axtell (Sharon), Christopher Axtell (Amanda), Jennifer Axtell-Schuss (Derrek), Adam Haacke and Matthew Haacke, and great grandchildren Spencer, Reid, and Rylee Axtell, his loving niece Roberta, cousin Dick (Marguerite) Merryweather, and brother-in-law Art LaPointe. James served in the Canadian Air Force and Canadian Army, and retired after 39 years of service with the Government of Saskatchewan in 1983. He will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humour, love of life, compassion and the faith and zest for which he welcomed each day. Special thanks to the staff of the War Veterans Ward, Wascana Rehabilitation Centre for their compassionate care. A Celebration of James life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 13, 2010 in St. Pauls Cathedral, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina with The Very Rev. James D. Merrett officiating. Interment to follow in The Columbarium, St. Pauls Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memoriam, to the St. Paul's Cathedral Building in Faith Fund, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R2.
