Obituary of Clementine Deck

CLEMENTINE DECK (nee Glasser) May 15, 1929 May 12, 2013 Clem passed away peacefully at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at 5:30 a.m. from Multiple Myeloma at the age of 83 with Ed by her side. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Ed; her son Wayne; and her daughter Laura (Reid) Marchant. Ed and Clem have spent many wonderful years together enjoying many trips, alone or with family members or friends. Clem sang with Sweet Adelines where she was a member for 40 years starting with the Calgary Chapter in 1968, then joined the Regina Chapter and Prairie Gold Chapter. Her precious memory is of singing lead with her sister-in-law Carol Glasser in the Novatones Quartet. Clem was honoured with receiving her 50 year membership pin with the Holy Cross CWL. She also sang for Little Flower, Corpus Christi (Calgary) and Holy Cross Church choirs. Clem loved to cook and was dubbed by her family as the Perogie and Butter Tart Queen. Her first job was with Sears at the age of 17, then Income Tax and Field Title Service until her marriage to Ed. Clem was predeceased by her Mom and Dad, Mary and Dan Glasser; her brothers Lew, Red, Sully and Eddy; her sister Kay Leibham; sisters-in-law Theresa, Carol and Nita Glasser; her niece Janice Glasser; nephew Sullivan Glasser; in-laws Joseph and Margaret Deck; brothers-in-law Ken Wingert, Jack Deck, Joe Sali, George Leibham and Fred Zech. She is survived by her sisters Pauline and Rose (Cincinnati); brother Jack; sisters-in-law Clo Glasser, Eleanor Sali and Josephine Deck and Millie Deck (Edmonton). Clem is also survived by brothers-in-law Tony and Mike Deck (Edmonton); one grandson; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross R.C. Church, 315 Douglas Avenue East, Regina, SK on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Norman Marcotte as Celebrant. Special thanks to Drs L. Salgado, P. Duffy, and Palliative Care for their home visits, Pasqua Hospital and Regina Wascana Grace Hospice for their special care. Also a very special thank you to Guzz Krause, her family, and numerous other friends and neighbours, for their friendship and assistance during this very difficult time.
