Obituary of George Ronald Cossette

GEORGES family would like to invite you to celebrate his life at a MEMORIAL RECEPTION to be held at SPEERS FAMILY CENTRE, 2333 CORNWALL STREET, REGINA, SASK. at 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on SATURDAY, APRIL 10, 2010. GEORGE left us early in the morning on March 11, 2010, two months shy of his 90th birthday. In the past three weeks, GEORGE resided at Parkside Extendicare with LOUISE, his wife of 67 years, where they had the opportunity to share his remaining time. As a young man, GEORGE left his family homestead and joined the RCAF, proudly serving his country during the 2nd World War. While stationed in Newfoundland, he met the love of his life, LOUISE SQUIRES, whom he married on June 23, 1943. After his term with the RCAF, he returned to Saskatchewan where he was employed by the Province of Saskatchewan until his retirement in 1983. During this time, his responsibilities were the construction of many roadways throughout the Province. He was especially proud of his involvement of highways number 1, number 6, and number 11. His career also encompassed safety and training education for heavy duty equipment and transportation workers. GEORGE was born on May 11, 1920, at Canwood, Saskatchewan to ERNEST and KATHERINE COSSETTE. He had two siblings, WILMA and LESLIE. He was predeceased by his parents, and his sister. He is survived by his wife LOUISE, his brother LESLIE and wife DOREEN, Son GARY and wife CAROL, Grandchildren JASON (wife SHANNON), JUSTIN (RENATA), JODI, JEREMY, JONAS (JILL), and several great grandchildren. Many special friends, including DON and MYRNA LAPCHUK, JOHN and LORI FEDIRKO, JOANNE and MITCH ROLLINS, LEN and LILLIAN ORDEN, as well as the A & W Crowd. In lieu of flowers, please made a donation to the charity of your choice, or because GEORGE liked children, the Childrens Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan, #1-345 3rd Avenue South, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1M6. A special thank you to the PASQUA HOSPITAL, UNIT 4B STAFF, and PARKSIDE EXTENDICARE STAFF for taking care of GEORGE.
