Obituary of Eleanor Ludwiga Carolina New

ELEANOR LUDWIGA CAROLINA NEW Eleanor New, late of Regina, died suddenly, but peacefully at the age of 86, on the morning of December 4, 2012, following a brief hospital stay. Eleanor was born on February 1, 1926 at Tyvan, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Neu (1965) and Lydia Neu (ne Ulrich,1996); her siblings, Lillian in infancy, Raymond, Vern, Olga, Marlene; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam, Lawrence, Marie and Bernadine. Eleanor is survived and lovingly remembered by her siblings, Alma New, Ruth Allan, Helen Sebastian and Ferdinand New, all of Regina, brother-in-law, Doug Aikins, of Vancouver; as well as many nieces and nephews. Eleanor attended Normal School in Moose Jaw and taught for many years in small town Saskatchewan, before going to work for the Saskatchewan Department of Highways. Upon her retirement in 1984, Eleanor pursued her life-long love of learning and enrolled as a student at the University of Regina. Eleanors family and friends were very proud of her when she obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1997. Even after convocating, she continued to enjoy classes at the University. Her love of English ran deep. Eleanor was a long time parishioner of Trinity Lutheran Church, and over the years she was involved in Church activities in many capacities. Eleanor was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend, and will be missed by all. A Funeral Service for Eleanor will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1909 Ottawa Street, Regina on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lindsay Hognestad officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Church Hall. A private interment at Riverside Memorial Park will be held at a later date.
