Obituary of Luella Irene Stacey

Luella Stacey died peacefully on March 18, 2010 in her 94th year after a brief illness. Luella was born in the Regina District and grew up on the family farm in the Rose Plains District. After high school she moved to Calgary, where she remained for 60 years before returning to Regina in 2002. While in Calgary, she began working at the C.P.R. Palliser Hotel as an Elevator Operator, which she enjoyed greatly and had the opportunity to meet the Queen and many other dignitaries. After working at the hotel, she held many different jobs, but the one she enjoyed the most was working at the gift shop in the Calgary Tower, where she made many friends and met many interesting people. Since moving to Regina, she lived on her own, in Marian Chateau and then Gardiner Point Personal Care Home under the care of Monica and Maria and staff, a home she enjoyed in much comfort and companionship. Luella was predeceased by her parents, Oscar and Lilly Stacey, little sister Tina and big sister Adeline King and brother in law Gordon King. She is survived by niece Shirley (John) Warnke of Regina; great nephews and niece, Mark (Claudette) Warnke, Veronique and Andrew of Winnipeg, MB; Laura Graham (Gerry Gauthier) of Glade, BC and Joseph and Denis Gauthier; Jon Graham of Trail, BC, and Brian Warnke of Brandon, MB. At Luellas request there will be no funeral service and interment will be in the Regina Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Luella may do so to the Alzheimers Society of Saskatchewan, Inc. #301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1 or to a charity of their choice.
