Obituary of Dorothy Helen Tuttle

Dorothy Helen Tuttle (nee York) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of a mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Dorothy was born on July 27, 1931 and passed away at Regina Pioneer Village nursing home on April 7, 2010 at the age of 78 years. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents Harry and Helen York, brothers Harry and Eddie York, sister Hilda Nelson, brothers-in-law Ron Merrett , Lloyd Dobrescu and former husband Gerald Tuttle. Dorothy is survived by her son Kim Tuttle (Allyson) and her daughter Wendy Johnson and her grandchildren Tanner, Arden, Samantha Johnson and Danae Bradshaw. She is also survived by her sisters Viola Lobb, her twin Doreen Dormuth (Ed), Marjorie Blackie (Bill), Yvonne Dobrescu, Darlene Woodhouse (Kirby) and her brother Lorne York. Also, she leaves behind several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Dorothy and her twin sister Doreen were born in Melfort Saskatchewan and she attended Beatty, East Bend and Waitville schools. Dorothy also took a dressmaking course by correspondence. Dorothy worked as a LPN at Weyburn Mental Hospital and Provincial Hospital in Moose Jaw. She then went to work at Canadays Apparel in Moose Jaw, sewing. At this time she met and married her husband Gerald Tuttle on June 28, 1958. Dorothy had two children Kim on September 22, 1959 in Moose Jaw and Wendy on June 24, 1962 in Regina. Dorothy then went to work at Parkside Extendicare as a LPN in Regina. The dogs Dorothy had where a great joy for her Cindy and Lisa. Dorothy and Gerald divorced in 1985. Then Dorothy went to work at My Coin Laundry (One Hour Martinizing) until she retired. She enjoyed needle crafts, watching sports, traveling and her grandchildren; they gave her such great pleasure. A Service in Celebration of her Life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday April 14, 2010 at Speers Funeral Chapel 2136 College Avenue. Interment will be at Riverside Memorial Park
