Obituary of Dennis Zatylny

Dennis Anthony of Raymore, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the age of 59 years after a long and brave battle with cancer. Dennis was predeceased by his parents Anton & Julia Zatylny. He is survived by his wife JoAnn; children Daniel and Lana; 4 brothers Raymond (Darlene) Zatylny, Benedict (Olive) Zatylny, Gerald Zatylny, Kenneth (Cathy) Zatylny; 6 sisters Cecelia (Ed) Ladner, Gloria (Ken) Pollon, Bernadette Gettis, Connie Kelly, Joanna (Norm) Noels, Cheryl Zatylny; his in-laws Earle and Iona Dunville, Amy (Irvin) Orb and Donna (Glen) Colley; as well as numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Born November 15, 1950 in Lestock, SK the forth oldest of eleven children and raised on a farm North of Raymore. Dennis attended school in Raymore, SK. After School he went to Calgary for a while and then worked for his Dad driving cat. He worked at numerous trucking jobs including NorthStar Transport and Brodsky Construction. In addition to trucking for Brodsky Construction, Dennis also drove the Saskatoon Blades hockey team. Dennis met JoAnn Dunville and they married on October 6, 1979. A son, Daniel was born in 1989 and a daughter Lana in 1994. In 1993 Dennis stopped trucking and started farming full time just South of Raymore. Dennis managed Dannys hockey team for 12 years and he also helped his children with their 4-H activities. Dennis was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish Council. In January 2009 Dennis was diagnosed with cancer, a battle which he quietly and bravely fought for over a year. A strong faith got him through this difficult time. He never complained in spite of the great pain he endured. The family would like to express thanks to all the health care professionals involved in Dennis care (especially Dr. Zarkovic), and a special thanks to the staff in the Pasqua Palliative Care Unit. Prayers will be held Monday April 19, 2010 at 7pm at Sacred Heart Church in Raymore. The Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church, Raymore. Interment in Sacred Heart cemetery, Raymore. Flowers gratefully declined in lieu of donations to the Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
