Obituary of Earl Kemp

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Earl Kemp announce his passing on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the age of 84. Earl was born in the homestead of his father and grandfather near Almonte, ON. The oldest of six children, he grew up and went to school in the Ottawa Valley until World War II broke out. Fibbing about his age, he joined at 16, serving in the Armed forces until being discharged in 1947. Earl came west to work in the Weyburn Psychiatric Centre where a chance meeting with a young Norwegian nurse would plant a seed that eventually grow into a 49 year marriage. Earl worked in the insurance industry for many years, but once family life beckoned he chose to stay closer to home, working in the auto sales industry for 20 years. Upon retirement he worked for 17 years for the Corps of Commissionaires. Earl was a man of honour, decency, and commitment. He was fiercely defensive of his family, and was never happier than when he was surrounded by his immediate and extended family. He loved to travel with his lifetime partner and best friend Sylvia, seeing the country in their Airstream. He loved his garden paradise and all the furry friends that occupied their lives over the years. Earl is predeceased by his father Joe and mother Annie; and sister Helen. He is deeply missed and loved by his wife Sylvia; son Curtis (Michelle) and grandchildren David, Joshua, and Jennifer; son Derrick (Carianne) and grandchildren Jordan, Brooke, and Dryden; daughter Cheryl (John) and grandchildren Laura, and Bob; daughter Marcia and granddaughter Shauna; along with two great grandchildren, Justin and Marissa. Mourning his loss are sisters Rita, June (Tom), Irene, Doreen (Walter); and sisters-in-law Evelyn, Karen and their families. Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday April 21, 2010 at 11:00 am in New Hope Lutheran Church, 370 McIntosh St. N. with Dr. Dennis Lueck officiating. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the New Hope Lutheran Church Building Fund.
