Obituary of Elsmore Holmes

Surrounded by his family, Al passed away peacefully at the Regina General Hospital in the early morning of April 22, 2010 at the age of 74. Al was born June 22, 1935 in Avonlea, Saskatchewan to William and Florence Holmes. He is predeceased by his parents, a sister Doreen Toole; nephews Greg Toole and Gerald Jelinski; sisters-in-law Bertha Holmes and Helen Werstler; and grandson Seadon Holmes. Al is survived by his loving wife Edith Holmes, his children: Brad (Heather) and their children Chelsea and Carter; Randy (Kim) and their children Forbes and Logan; Wendy Shepard and her son, Alexander. He is also survived by his brother William; sister Betty (Leo) Jelinski; brothers-in-law Lew Toole and Arnold Werstler; sister-in-law Emma (Norm) Kaminski, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In his early years, Al worked for Western Clay, and then was employed with the City of Regina for 25 years. For the past 48 years, his passion has been owning and operating a successful landscaping business. Friends and family are welcome to a Visitation at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2010 in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. A Celebration of Als Life will be held on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Philips Anglican Church, 3018 Doan Drive, Regina, SK with Rev. Blair Dixon officiating. Private family interment at a later date. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Regina General Hospital SICU and Neuro (5A).
