Obituary of Ivy Gertrude Wilson

Vicki died peacefully at age 90, surrounded by family and the genuinely caring and compassionate nurses and staff of unit 3-5 at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. Vicki was born in London, England and it was there, during World War II, while a radar technician in the RAF that she met and married Canadian airman Donald Roy? Wilson, and followed him as a war bride? to Canada after the war. At age 47 and with two young children Vicki endured the sudden and premature death of her beloved Roy in 1967. She then launched a new career with Social Services, placing foster and adoptive children until her retirement. To her final days she was so pleased when now fully grown adults recognized and thanked her for her efforts to find them a new home or parents when they were young children. Vickis first love and priority were always her family, daughter Elizabeth and son Don (Kathy), grandchildren Jolynn MacDougald (Mark), and Jeff, Ben, Peter and Julie Wilson and great-grandchildren Abby and Hanna MacDougald. She also loved playing bridge, walks around Wascana Lake, gooey desserts of any kind, all sports, and particularly her beloved Riders. Her flower beds, all of which were grown from seed and with careful nurturing, were the marvel of Douglas Park Cr. every year. Beneath an independent, determined and proud exterior, that served her well in dealing with some significant challenges life threw at her, lay a kind and generous heart that gave so much to children and others less fortunate. We will miss you Nanny and remember you with much love always. A private family interment is planned, but any wishing to remember Vicki with her family are invited to an informal reception from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Wascana Country Club, 6500 Wascana Parkway, Regina.
