Obituary of Doreen McMillan

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother and sister on May 8, 2010 after a brief illness. Doreen was born in Imperial, Saskatchewan to Arthur Roy and Kathleen Eva Lucas. She spent her married life working and raising her family in Regina. We will always remember and sorely miss Moms dedication to her family, her strength of character and her sense of humor which were present to the end of her days. Doreen was predeceased by her loving husband and best friend of 56 years, Ken on November 3, 2009; sisters, Connie, Phyllis, Marnie and Gwenyth and brother Donald. Doreen is survived by her two incredible brothers, Gordon Lucas of Calgary, David Lucas (Margret Samson) of Winnipeg; her children Loree Lawson (Kent, granddaughter Riley) of Regina, Don McMillan (Marnie, grandsons Garrett and Andrew) of Regina, Scott McMillan (Kim Stanzel, granddaughters Kaitlyn and Emily) of Regina, Colleen Grady (Mark) of Philadelphia, many nieces, nephews and her buddy, Flip the cat. Moms compassion and sense of humor were ever present even through the last few hours of her life when she told the family Live life and love? and If its time for the fat lady to sing let her sing.? A celebration of Moms life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 14th, 2010 at St. Lukes Anglican Church, 3233 Argyle Road, Regina, Saskatchewan. There will be a private interment for both Doreen and Ken to follow. Special thanks to the nursing staff of Regina General Hospital 6F and Doctor Clein for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, those who wish should make a donation to The Regina Humane Society, P.O. Box 3143, Regina, SK S4P 3G7 or a charity of their choice.
