Obituary of Audrey Joan Worby

JULY 15, 1923 MAY 16, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Audrey on Sunday morning, May 16 at the age of 86 years, after a brave battle following complications from surgery. She was born in Brighton, England and loved to dance from the age of 3. She was an only child and loved life, and was a very social person. She served the Royal Navy as a WREN for over 2 years. At the end of WWII, she met and married Canadian Navigator Earle Worby in April 1945. She came to Canada as a war bride in 1946, and they resided in Montreal where they had 4 children. The family moved to Regina in 1968. She was active in the Anglican Church with the Ladies Auxiliary and joined the Newcomers Club, making many new friends. Audrey worked at Olsons Ambulance in Regina for 15 years until its closing. She also volunteered at the Regina General Hospital Gift Shop for 5 years and helped out at Pioneer Village doing exercises with the patients. She tutored English to new Canadians at the Central Library. Audrey enjoyed many activities including badminton, ice skating, Scottish, Ballroom and Square dancing. She also loved games, cards, bridge and social interaction. Audrey will be missed by all. She was predeceased by her loving husband Earle in 2001. Audrey will be forever in the loving memories of her children David (Patricia) + Joshua and Jeremiah; Susan Toews (Terry) + Kim, Starla and Nathan; Peter (Trish) + Chris, Elliott, Phoebe-Anne, Tabitha, Jeff and Judy; and Terry (Nora) + James, Lynn, Carla, Daniel, Luke and Michael; as well as 18 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Audreys Life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010 in All Saints Anglican Church, 142 Massey Road, Regina S4S 4M9. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make a memorial donation may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279-3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8, or to the All Saints Anglican Church in Audreys honour.
