Obituary of Kathleen Jean Schoepp

It is with extreme sadness that the family of Kathleen Jean Schoepp announces her passing on June 11, 2010 at the age of 71. Kathy was predeceased by her husband Elroy, parents George and Mae Cook, and her brother Donald. Kathy is survived by her sons Kevin (Sherry) and Darren (Sheena); grandchildren Stephanie, Dayna, Mathew and Noah; sisters Mary Eddy, Joyce Miller, Lois (Raymond) Seib; sister-in-law Darlene Cook; Elroys many siblings (Schoepp); as well, as numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy was born on September 21, 1938 in Regina and was raised on the family farm in the Valeport district. Growing up on the farm, Kathys childhood was filled with adventures with her siblings and friends. Everyone knew that Kathy loved horses. Her love of horses started at an early age with her favorite horse Jenny?. Kathy married Elroy Schoepp on July 7th, 1962 in Craven, SASK. They were married for 8 years. Following Elroys death on September 21, 1969, Kathy devoted her time to raising her two sons. Kathy spent many hours attending hockey games and music lessons. Spending time with her family was important to her and she showed this in many ways. She took many camping trips with Kevin and Darren and always brought along Grannie and Grandpa. Kathy and her sisters were very close and hardly a day passed when she wasnt talking to one of them on the phone. When Kevin and Darren were older, Kathy returned to work at Sears on 4th and Broad where she enjoyed worked for many years until her retirement in 2004. Kathy was proud of her grandchildren and had a special place in her heart for each of them. She made every effort to visit Stephanie and Dayna as they grew up in Maple Ridge, B.C. and was also there shortly after Noah was born. Mathew was her heart of gold and grandma spoiled him with sleepovers, garage sales and love. Kathy was fortunate to have many close friends in Regina that supported her during good times and more challenging times. These friends included Laverne, Lynn and Leland Greenfeld, her special companion. These three were often together enjoying a laugh. A service in Kathys memory will take place on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel at 2136 College Avenue, Regina. A private family interment will be held at Riverside Memorial Park.
