Obituary of Edna Alberta Purdy

Edna passed into Glory on June 22, 2010. She was born July 8, 1923 at Wishart, Saskatchewan, to Alfred and Estelle (Sherwin) Purdy. She spent her early years on the farm and along with her ten siblings attended Allenby School. When WWII broke out, she served her country in the Royal Canadian Air Force. In 1945 she married Edward Jaworski. They made their home in several communities, including Wishart, Punnichy, Earl Grey, Southey, Govan, Balcarres, and Regina. During the forty years she lived in Regina she was employed at Emperinghams, Hudsons Bay Co., The Royal Canadian Legion, and owned and operated her own business Ednas Catering. She is predeceased by her son Mervin; her former husband Eddie; her granddaughter Judy Lynn Jaworski, in infancy; her parents; brothers, Lawrence, Harold, Ronald, and twin brother Edward; sisters, Doris Donald, Margaret Purdy, and May Bowman; her daughter-in-law Loretta; parents-in-law Tony and Freda Jaworski; sister-in-law Marge Kerliuk; brothers-in-law, Fred (Pat) Jaworski, Anton Jaworski, Matthew Pearson, Emil Unterschute, and Roy Bowman. Left to mourn her passing are her three sons, Gordon (Doris) Jaworski, Ryan (Geraldine) Jaworski, Darwin (Marilyn) Jaworski; one daughter Dianne (Ron) Hanmer; grandchildren, Kent (Stacey) Hanmer, Brad (Bonnie) Hanmer, Dallas (Melissa) Hanmer, Todd (Jen) Jaworski, Boyd Jaworski, Evan Jaworski, Sarah (Wil) Fry, Stephan (Candace) Jaworski, Michelle Jaworski; great-grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, and Jared Hanmer, Eric and Kelly Hanmer, Isabella and Brooklyn Fry, and Callie and Eli Jaworski; her daughter-in-law Donna Jaworski; three sisters, Pearl Pearson, Lois Unterschute, and Beth Morrison; sisters-in-law, Flo Purdy, Freida Wanless, Wilma Verity, Rose (Joe) Weisgerber, Sally Jaworski; brother-in-law Jim Jaworski; cousin Phyllis Thibault; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A Service to Celebrate Ednas Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Darold Sauer officiating. Interment will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Stone Church Cemetery, Wishart, SK. In lieu of flowers, family would appreciate donations in Ednas name to the Sask.
