Obituary of Percy Galvin
Percy Albert Galvin 1921 2010 On Wednesday, June 23 a heart of gold stopped beating. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Percy Galvin in his 90th year. He was born on Jan. 13, 1921 in Marchwell, Sask. to William Austin and Annie Mae (nee Scharf) Galvin. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Bill, Ken and Arthur; sister Joyce; sisters-in-law Dolly Galvin, Hazel Galvin and Inez Hague; brothers-in-law Peter Opekan and Bruce Hague. Percy is survived by his wife Lillian (nee Ferrari) and daughter Lori (Martin Williams); brothers Iven of Mission, B.C., Ray (Peggy) of Saskatoon, and John (Marian) of Ottawa; sister Betty Opekan of St. Catharines; sister-in-law Gloria (Chris Schubert) of Mississauga; many nieces, nephews and cousins. During the Second World War, Percy served in the Army Dental Corps. After the war, he began his career as a Station Agent/Telegraph Operator with the C.P.R., retiring in 1985 after 37 years of service. He maintained a keen interest in telegraphy and railway memorabilia. He had an amazing knowledge of how mechanical things worked. In accordance with Percy's wishes, no funeral service will be held. Cremation services provided by Speers Funeral Home. We wish to thank the Emergency staff at the Regina General Hospital and Ward 3F for their compassionate care; also to the Home Care staff for the care given to Percy. Donations in memory, may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or to The Cancer Society, and would be greatly appreciated. Rest in Peace Percy.
