Obituary of Maurice Herman Rieder

Maurice, born to John and Margaret Rieder on December 14, 1933, passed away peacefully in sleep on Monday, July 26, 2010, surrounded by his family. Maurice was born on the family farm in Peebles, SK. He was the youngest of eight children. He was predeceased by his parents; infant brother Leonard; father-in-law George and mother-in-law Anna; sister-in-law Mildred; brother Joe (Mary); sister-in-law Olive; sister-in-law Mary; brother Ambrose (Marian); brother-in-law George; sister Mary (Tony); brother-in-law Charles; and niece Margaret (Garry). Maurice was dedicated to his family and friends, his career and volunteer activities, and to his faith and church. He gave all of himself to whomever and whatever he was involved. With love, Maurices multiple roles as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, relative, friend, neighbor were fulfilled. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Barbara (nee Abbott); sons, Brian, Leonard (Roxanne), Warren (Vivian); daughter Maureen (Rachel); grandchildren, Noah, Aurora and Bret; brothers, Albert, Walter and Gerald; sisters-in-law, Darlene and Mary Jean; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Maurice received numerous awards and recognition for his dedication to the various agencies and organizations with which he was involved. Maurice will be missed by all those in his life; however we know he is at peace. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010 in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 30, 2010 in St. Martins Catholic Church, 4720 Castle Road, Regina. Interment to follow in Riverside Memorial Park.
