Obituary of William Jacobs

JACOBS - William (Willie) passed away peacefully with his family at his side on November 22, 2008, at the age of 72, after a brief illness. Willie is survived by Helen, his beloved wife of 51 years, his loving children: Jeff (Shirley) Jacobs; Jan (Stuart) Morgan; Diane (Brian) Larrivee; Stephen (Brenda) Jacobs. Willie is also survived by his grandchildren: Virginia and Greg Jacobs; Amy and Jon (Holly Dales) Morgan; Scott, Thomas and Mark Larrivee; Chelsea and Andrew Jacobs; and his great-grandson, Chase Morgan. Willie is also survived by brother, Frank Jacobs, sister Alice (Glen) Hubenig, sister-in-law Elsie Jacobs, step-sister Louise (Ike) Hornung, and step-brother Ken Fahlman, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Magdalena Jacobs; step-mother Birdie Jacobs; brothers George and Ted Jacobs; sister Irene and brother-in-law Peter Hopfauf; step-sister Esther Sargent, sisters-in-law Mary Jacobs and Helen Fahlman. Over the course of his life, wherever he went, Willie always made friends. His kindness and sense of humor kept him close to them whether they were from his childhood, his work or his snowbird years. In his successful sales career Willie held positions with Colgate Palmolive and Best Foods. He and Helen later operated several successful businesses. Willie loved sports. As a young man, he played on the Little Flower baseball team and was an avid hockey player. He was actively involved with his children's sports and was a frequent spectator at his grandchildrens sporting activities. His favourite hobby was playing golf. He spent many hours golfing with his family and friends. He loved to keep track of his favourite teams: the Roughriders; the Maple Leafs and the LA Dodgers. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of Endoscopy and 6A RGH and the Palliative Care Unit Pasqua as well as Dr. J. Carter, Dr. S. Meiers and Dr. J.S. McMillan for their excellent care. In keeping with Willies devout faith, the Funeral Mass will be held at Little Flower R.C. Church, 420 College Avenue, Father Eugene Schaffer presiding, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2008. Interment to follow in Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers are gratefully declined.
