Obituary of James Ahepa Nikolou

JAMES AHEPA NIKOLOU James Ahepa Nikolou, 74, of Regina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2012 with his family by his side. Jim was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on April 5, 1938, the youngest of three children to Ismini and John Nikolou. He married his high school sweetheart, Jo-Anne Abdoulah in April 1963. His career as a restaurant owner and caterer made him the perfect host with a flair for throwing unforgettable parties. His passions were many. Music and dancing were matched by his love of hockey and football. Jim is survived by Jo-Anne, his loving, devoted and supportive wife of 49 years. He will be missed by his four children, Jackie (Barry), Jennifer, Joni (David) and John (Shelly). His memory will live on in the hearts and smiles of his grandchildren who adored him: Justin and Ashley Wilkie, Jordan and Nicholas Guberman, and Graham and Rohan Nikolou. Jim is also survived by his two sisters Ana (Peter) and Cynthia, their children and many nieces and nephews. His physical strength and discipline got him through several health struggles. In the last few years, Jims health declined because of vascular dementia. The compassion, care and unwavering strength he received from his wife Jo-Anne was second to none. Special thanks for support and kindness go to Linda, a friend and caregiver who got a smile out of Jim right until the end. Deep love and appreciation also goes to Jackie, Barry and Ashley for their day to day support and always being ready to lend a hand. Jims childhood friends were a comfort through all phases of his life right up until his final days. Remember Jimbo as a man who told a good joke, loved music and playing the drums, delivered a flawless impersonation, cheered at a competitive game and always put his family first. A Prayer Service will be held at St. Pauls Greek Orthodox Church, 3000 Argyle Road, Regina, SK on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at St. Pauls Greek Orthodox Church on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Spyro Vandoros officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Memorial Park. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
