Obituary of George Dobra

GEORGE DOBRA It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother and best friend on Thursday, December 20th, after a hard fought battle with cancer at the age of 79. George was predeceased by his parents Nick and Helen Dobra. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Anna; step-sons Rob Algera and Glen (Lorraine) Algera; step-daughter Cheryl (Jim) Maier; daughter Barbara (Terry) Black; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters Doreen (George) Fefchuck, Marlene (George) Paranuik, Gerri (Larry) Krienke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. George was born April 26th, 1933 in the Crystal Hill district of SK. In his adult life he farmed and lived in the Kayville district until 1972 at which time he married Anna Algera and together they made their home in Regina. He took over the family farm after his fathers passing in 1990 and continued farming until his retirement in the fall of 2011. George had a great love of animals and took great pride in his cattle. George also had a great love of flying and held a pilot license. He worked at the Regina Flying Club during the winters in his earlier years. George had many friends, was respected by all who knew him, and will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life for a wonderful man will be held at Broadway United Church, 105 Broadway Avenue, Regina SK on Monday December 24th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Balfour presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations in memoriam may be made to the Regina Humane Society, P.O. Box 3143 Stn. Main, Regina SK S4P 3G7.
