Obituary of Deborah Margaret Buller

Buller Deborah Margaret (nee Chevalier) On December 15, 2008, Debbie lost her courageous battle with cancer at the age of 54. She was diagnosed with a brain tumour 3 years ago but, as usual, didn't let a little thing like that stop her from living life to the fullest. She was a giver with a huge heart and a quick laugh. Debbie was a fabulous cook and hostess she could decide at noon to have a dinner party for 10 the same night. She taught with the Regina Public School Board for 36 years working as a primary school teacher and teacher-librarian in both elementary and secondary school libraries throughout the city. Deb was caring, sympathetic and passionate. Debbie was a volunteer she sat on the board of Mobile Crisis Services, volunteered with Dress For Success, and offered support through the Canadian Cancer Society's Peer Support Program. She loved to travel and made it to England, New Zealand, Mexico as well as all over Canada. She was a trailblazer Deb was the first female gas jockey in Regina, initiated the job-sharing program in the Regina Public School Board, and started the Regina Chapter of the Brain Tumour Foundation's Peer Support Group. Debbie was a sister, a mother and most importantly, a best friend. Born on March 15, 1954 in Niagara Falls, Debbie moved to Saskatchewan in 1958 with her family and called Regina home since then. She is predeceased by her parents, Betty and Charles Chevalier and survived by her 3 children; Jennifer (Chris), Allison (Kirk) and Brent, her brother, Terry Chevalier and his family, her Aunt Mary, as well as family-friend, Lloyd King and her "out-laws". "The Queen of Hearts" will also be greatly missed by her many friends who, through life, turned into Deb's extended family and who offered amazing support to all of us in recent months. On Saturday, December 20 at 11:00, we will be holding a celebration of Debbie's life at Westminster United Church with Reverend Kitchen officiating. There will be a tea to follow. In lieu of flowers, Debbie asked that friends make donations, in her memory, to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada (1-800-265-5106). Donations cards will be available at the service or donations can be made at a memorial donation website at www.canadahelps.org.
