Obituary of Howard Gladwayn Roland

ROLAND " With great sadness and regret we announce the passing of Howard Roland, age 76 years, late of Regina, Saskatchewan on Saturday, January 3, 2009. Predeceased by parents, Philip and Gladys Roland; son-in-law Leonard (Barney) Sitter; Cheryls parents; sister and brother, he is survived by his partner and best friend Cheryl Schnell; his daughters, Sherry Sitter (Brian Weisbrod) and Lorie (Dave) Gejdos; grandchildren, Luke and Logan Sitter, Craig, Megan and Kate-lynn Weisbrod, Ashley (Brad) Klassen and Amy Gejdos; great-granddaughter Autumn Klassen; sister Ruth Scott (Jim Young); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Howard was born and raised in Govan, where he met and married June Robinson. They moved to Regina for employment opportunities. These included Loggies Shoes, Butler Buildings, and Dura Structures. Howard was full of life and loved to have fun, especially always teasing his daughters and grandchildren whom he affectionately called his rotten kids. They will all dearly miss their Bumpa. His faithful canine companions, Simba, Sabre and Koda were a great source of joy and comfort to him, particularly when hunting with his sons-in-law. Howards green thumb was evidenced by his immaculate lawns and flowers. During the past few years of failing health, Howard was very thankful for the love and support from his devoted partner Cheryl. Thanks to Chris Dizy for a life long friendship with many trips to the lake and boat rides. Thanks also to our neighbour Arne Janz for his help over the past few years. The family would also like to thank the Regina Fire Department, EMS, and emergency room doctors and nurses at the Regina General Hospital for their valiant efforts. Cremation has taken place. At Howards request, no funeral service will be held. A private interment will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 " 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
