Obituary of Maxine Treleaven

TRELEAVEN, LEODA MAXINE of Milestone, SK passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the age of 80 years. She is survived by her husband Clifford and their four sons, Marvin (Judy) of Lang, SK, Rocky of Milestone, SK, Ivan of Leduc, AB and Blaine (Shelly) of Moose Jaw, SK. Maxine leaves grandchildren, Adrian, Duane, Lexi, Jordy and Jessie; great-grandchildren, Ireland, Cody and Chance; sister, Arleene Noga of Regina, SK; brother, Dewey (Norma) Johnson of McTaggart, SK; brothers-in-law, Wayne Moerike of Ogema, SK and Harold Dennis of Dorechester, ON; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Maxine was predeceased by her parents, Dewey and Leoda Johnson of Ogema, SK; sisters, Ethel Dennis of Dorchester, ON and Frances Moerike of Roche Percee, SK. Maxine was born on July 20, 1928 and raised on the family farm near Ogema, SK and attended the Albert Springs Rural Elementary School and then Ogema High School. Following her school years Maxine spent one winter in Ontario working with her sister Ethel. Later, while working on the Messer farm in Rouleau, SK, she had the privilege of meeting and enjoying the music of the renowned Don Messer and His Islanders. Maxine married Clifford Treleaven on November 19, 1948. They farmed in the Ogema district until 1958 when they located briefly at various places in Saskatchewan and finally on a farm in the Milestone district. They later moved into the town of Milestone where Maxine was involved in community affairs and participated in sports, such as softball and curling. Maxine will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and great sense of humour. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Milestone United Church, Milestone, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memoriam, to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 917 Albert Street, Regina S4R 2P6.
