Obituary of Katherine Patricia Owen

Owen, Katherine Patricia (Hall) After enduring the challenges of advancing age with grace, dignity and humour Kay Owen passed away peacefully on January 6th, 2009 at the age of 93. Kay will be lovingly remembered by her children Murray (Joy), Marilyn (Phillip), and Larry (Jan), her treasured grandchildren Vanessa, Shane, Ryan (Amy), Jackie, James, Kiel, and Lindsay; as well as by her numerous nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren and a close and supportive circle of friends. She was predeceased by her husband Bill Owen (June 24, 1985), her sisters Nora and Beatrice, daughter-in-law Tracey, four brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law. Kay was born in North Battleford on December 8th, 1915, and grew up in Regina. She began her working years at Sears, and during the war worked in Washington as a secretary. After her children were grown, she worked for a short time at the U. of R. in the Psychology Department. Kay and Bill had many lifelong friends in Regina and enjoyed their Square Dance, Bridge Club, Eaton parties, and many weekend get-togethers. She cherished her friends, and joined them on trips to many different places and countries " always ready to pack her bags and go. Even during her last days, Kay always had a smile on her face and a chocolate in her hand. Her sunny disposition always spread warmth and encouragement to everyone around her, no matter the time, place or situation. She will also be remembered for her perseverance and inner strength " never complaining and always cherishing every moment she spent with her friends and family. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 9th at 7:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 3:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 " 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon S7K 2H8. Kay, your strength of character and unconditional love will be cherished forever. We are blessed to have been loved by you and will miss you dearly. The family would like to thank the staff at Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home for their kindness, caring and thoughtfulness during Kays last years.
