Obituary of John Alexander McLean

McLEAN - It is with sadness that we announce the passing of John (Jack) Alexander McLean on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. John was our collective hero. He personified honour, loyalty, dependability, and integrity. John was born in 1930 in Mossbank, SK. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Alma, and brother Donald. John is survived by his wife Ida; daughter Allison and son-in-law Gordon; granddaughters Genevieve and Marissa; sisters Joyce (Regina, SK) and Jean (Sechelt, BC); sisters-in-law Olga and Emma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John had a lifelong love of sports. He played hockey, baseball, and golf and enjoyed jogging and skating. He was also a loyal Roughrider and Maple Leafs fan. John was a faithful employee of the Workers Compensation Board of Saskatchewan for over 40 years. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff of the Palliative Care team. A visitation for family and friends will be held TODAY (Saturday) from 10:00 a.m. " 12:00 noon in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 190 Massey Road, Regina with Pastor S. Haugen officiating. A private family interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memoriam, to the Regina Palliative Care Inc., 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina S4T 1A5 or to Our Saviors Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 190 Massey Road, Regina S4S 4N5.
