Obituary of Kelvin Louis Kaytor

KAYTOR " Kelvin (Kelly) Louis It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that we the family announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandpa, son and brother. Kelly passed away in the loving arms of his family on January 10, 2009 at the age of 47. He was predeceased by his father Ed Kaytor, grandparents Lucy and Richard Flaman, Agnes and Louis Kaytor. Left to cherish and honor his memory is the love of his life and best friend, wife Rae (nee Armsworthy); his loving and precious daughters Shauna (Jim Christie) and Christina. He was grateful to have been blessed with a grandson Dylan Christie, affectionately called Little Buddy? by his grandpa. Dylan helped to make Bumpas? cloudiest days sunny and bright. Also survived by his mother Anne Kaytor (George Day), brother Dean (Brenda); sisters Loldine Vale (Nick) their children Lauren and Gavin; Dawn Keating (Rick) their children Erin and Erica; mother and father-in-law Irma and Gerry Armsworthy; sister-in-law Kelly-Jo Armsworthy (Albert Easthom) and her children Dallas, Bobbie-Jo, Cierra and Austin, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and very dear friends. He will also be missed by his furry friends Echo and Nemo. Kelly and Rae were childhood sweethearts and have been together for 32 years. In May 2008 they celebrated 25 years of marriage. Kelly was born in Regina on August 13, 1961. He attended St. Peters Elementary School and ONeil High School. Following graduation in 1980, he was employed at Merit Printing where he became a journeyman printer. In September of 1997 a career change was made. He enrolled at the U of R, Luther Campus and began his quest for a science degree. In spring 2004, Kelly convocated with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in computer science. He convocated with distinction. We are so proud of his commitment, determination and achievements. He was employed at CGI as an analyst at the time of his passing. Kelly enjoyed the great outdoors. Camping with family and friends was always a priority. There was nothing quite like a Kelly fire?, a tradition we will be sure to continue. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. Curling was a sport Kelly played as a teen and he continued with this into his adult life having success and making great friends along the way. He had recently taken up golf and was looking forward to mastering this as well. Kelly and Rae have been long time Rider season ticket holders, and Kelly definitely represented the 13th man. He never missed a game in 2008 while undergoing his many cancer treatments. He had the good fortune to attend both the 1989 and 2007 Grey Cup victories. Kelly and Rae were thankful to have been able to enjoy vacations to Mexico the last 2 years. Rae would like to thank family, friends and co-workers for their prayers, support and words of comfort during this last year. Thank you to Dr. Johnson, Dr. McMillan, Dr. Dolata, palliative homecare team, and staff of 3A & 3B Pasqua Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Danielson and Dr. Ganshorn for their unending support to our family during this difficult time. Prayers will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave., Regina. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 16, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Child R.C. Church, 2636 7th Ave. E, Regina with Rev. Lorne Crozon presiding. Cremation will take place with interment of ashes to be in Regina Memorial Gardens.
