Obituary of Evelyn Sarah Shaw

SHAW - Evelyn Sarah (nee Erickson) It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn Shaw announce her passing on February 9, 2009 at the age of 91 years. Evelyn was born in Weyburn, SK on December 14, 1917 to Erick and Florence Erickson. She married Alfred Franklin Shaw in 1940. After Franks passing in 1967 Evelyn continued to raise her family in Regina before moving to Vancouver. In 1988 she returned to Regina where she was an avid Roughrider fan and enjoyed weekly games of bridge. Evelyn enjoyed reading and had a keen interest in politics and current affairs. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her and brought her much joy. During her last few years, she made many good friends at the Renaissance Retirement Home. She also nurtured several long-time friendships spanning over 50 years. Evelyn is survived by her sons Frank (Sheila), Gordon (Patty), and Kenneth (Lorette), eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, her sister Dorothy McFadden and numerous very special nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, her in-laws, William and Laura Shaw; her husband Frank; infant son William; daughter Heather Thompson; sisters Kathleen Buck, Winnifred McDougall and Edna Lix as well as all her sisters and brothers-in"law. Evelyn will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Honorary Pallbearers are all those who knew Evelyn and shared in her life. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on February 20th at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Dr. Trish McCarthy from All Saints Anglican Church.
