MCLELLAN, IRENE ROSE Irene Rose McLellan (Schenher) passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2009. She will be remembered as a Very Special Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Irene fought a long and courageous 4 year battle of cancer with strength, endurance, dignity and grace. She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Margaret Schenher, step-mother Theresa, father-in-law and mother-in-law Dan and Susie McLellan, sister Caroline Schenher, brother Michael Schenher, sister-in-law Vivian Schenher, brothers-in-law Frank Fellner, Bud McLellan, Earl Johnson, Jack Seis and Mike Schoenborn, nephew Brad Zastrow and great-nephews Brady Lillejord and Tanner Zastrow. She will be lovingly remembered and cherished by her husband John of 48 years and her daughter Sandra. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Fran (Joe) Ortman, Catherine Seis, Margaret Johnson, Agnes Cornea, Helen (Johnny) Frycz, Ernie Schenher (friend Ileen), and Ed (Rose) Schenher, step-sister Martha Schoenborn, sisters-in-law, Muriel Fellner, Shirley (Ernie) Lillejord and Rosemary Schenher. Irene is also survived by many nephews and nieces. She will be missed by her feline friend, Whiskers?, who was her little shadow and companion. Irene was born on April 8, 1941 at Viceroy, SK. She took her schooling at Mount Joy School, Ogema and graduated at Khedive where she then moved to Regina and worked at SaskPower. In 1960, she married John McLellan. They moved to Khedive in 1967 where they ran the local grocery store and farmed. Irene loved small town life, farming and driving the school bus. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing, curling and playing cards. The door was always open and the coffee pot on, awaiting family and friends. She volunteered at the Khedive Rec Centre, Pangman School Board and CWL. In 1992 they moved to Regina where they were caretakers of apartments and then courier drivers. No matter what Mom and Dad did, they worked side by side. When Mom retired she enjoyed working in her yard, spending time with family and friends and volunteering at the seniors centre. Irene touched the lives of many with her love, humour, generosity and gentle words. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Resurrection R. C. Church, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina with Very Rev. Stephen Bill, V.F. presiding. Flowers gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina S4T 7T1 or to a charity of choice.
