Obituary of Grant McKenzie

McKENZIE, GRANT April 11, 1918 " March 6, 2009 Grant McKenzie, Regina area farmer and businessman, passed away peacefully March 6, one month prior to his 91st birthday. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 2008 as well as his parents, William and Eleanor, brother-in-law, Murray McFadden and his wife, Ruth and his other sister-in-law, Ruth McFadden. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Roberta, son Stuart and wife Debbie and his granddaughters Sarah and Jessica, brother-in -law Harold McFadden and several nieces and nephews. Grant was born, raised and lived most of his life in the Regina area, except for his time in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. Originally living on a farm east of the city and upon retirement he and Margaret moved into Regina. He led a full and active life involved in many community activities, serving for many years as a 4-H leader, he worked in several capacities with the church, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and is a Past Potentate of Wa Wa Shrine Temple. His retirement years were spent enjoying travel and the social and philanthropic activities of the Shriners. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. In lieu of flowers, donations in Grant's memory may be made to the Wa Wa Shrine Patient Travel Fund, 2065 Hamilton Street, Regina S4P 2E1 or to a charity of choice.
