She taught at Annandale and Yale Schools near Redvers before she married Edwin in 1935 and settled on the farm in the Arundel area south of Wawota. After Edwins untimely death in 1955, she returned to teaching at Arundel, Carlyle and at the high school in Wawota. While she was teaching she upgraded her certificate and after much hard work by correspondence and summer school earned her Bachelor of Education degree. She married George in 1961. Throughout her life she was active in the church and U.C.W. When she retired in 1975, she enjoyed travelling, golfing with George and politics. She was very proud to have walked on the Great Wall of China in 1992 at age 82. She was very interested in family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1999 she received an Inspiring Teachers Award at University of Regina. In 2001, she moved to Queen Victoria Estates in Regina where she was a participant in many activities and made many friendships. During her lifetime she faced many challenges, including the failure of her eyesight. She faced all challenges with a positive attitude and spent many hours playing the piano which was a therapy for her. In life we are all tested from time to time. How we handle ourselves is proof of our character. Grandma V was a Lady? and our Pillar of Strength. We will miss her dearly.
