Obituary of Rita Mary Hochban

HOCHBAN, Rita Rita Mary Margaret Hochban (nee Milette) of Regina passed away on the 9th of March, 2009 at the age of 77 years. Rita was born on 23 November 1931 in Regina, Saskatchewan. She married Francis Xavier Hochban on 24 May 1949. Rita was a joy. She was laughter. She was the cutest in the family " you just had to ask her. She approached each of lifes challenges with gusto and a positive attitude. She loved children; she raised eight children of her own and sponsored eight more from around the world. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Church and did volunteer work to help young mothers and their children. She was deeply reverent and yet had a blushingly irreverent sense of humour. She wants us all to be happy. She and all members of the family greatly appreciated the support and home-like care provided by the staff at Wascana Grace Hospice. Rita was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Rose Milette; her sisters, Ester, Ida, Simone, Lorraine; brothers, Joseph, Emile, Leo, Louis, Maurice; and two of her children Mary and Rita, both of whom died in infancy; her daughter-in-law Sophie (Ted); and her dear husband Frank, who passed away 26 May, 1999. They are all together again. She is survived by her sisters, Sister Cecile Milette, Annette Leskun, Louisa (Joe) Gould; her brother Roland (Rosalie); her children Tim (Elke), Tom, Terry, Ted (Belinda), Tammy, Todd (Nancy), Ty and Francis (Rebecca); her fifteen grandchildren Kyla (Serge), Eric, Brett, Tommy, Gina, Laura, Paula, Kyle, Jordan, Matthew, Andrew, Tasha, Annette, Devon, Jenna; and two great-grandchildren Gabrielle and Sophie. Those wishing to celebrate Ritas life and give praise and thanksgiving to God are asked to gather at 12:45 p.m. at Holy Trinity RC Church, 5020 Sherwood Drive, Regina on Monday, March 16, 2009. A reflection of Ritas life will occur prior to the celebration of the Funeral Mass, followed by a time of sharing, companionship and food. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, friends of Rita can make donations, in memoriam to BIRTHRIGHT, 1771 Rose Street, Regina SK S4P 3L7 or to Regina Palliative Care Inc., 4F, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 7T1.
