Obituary of Carol Elizabeth Glasser
Glasser, Carol Elizabeth (nee Vicq) died March 10, 2009, age 72 after a brief battle with cancer. Carol will be sadly missed by everyone that knew her. Carol was born in Moose Jaw and raised in Regina. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Harold Fraser and Josephine (Josie) Vicq. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Jacob Glasser, children Neil, Ian (Dawn), and Sharon (Ken) Meredith, and grandchildren Leah, Addy, and Connor. Carol is also survived by sisters Pat (Barrie), Louise (Ian), Joanne, Barbara (Les), brother Bruce (Valerie), as well as many nieces and nephews. Carol spent many years working as a tourism consultant with the Government of Saskatchewan. Her position led her to travel extensively in various countries including Canada, England, and the United States promoting our fine province. Carol volunteered her time to support various organizations including The Regina Garden Associates, Grandmothers for Grandmothers, The Sweet Adeline's and The Prairie Gold Chorus. Carol's passion was gardening. She was truly a master gardener with a knack for nurturing that perfect orchid. She spent countless hours in her yard and tending her garlic patch. In addition to her own yard, Carol was always willing to share her expertise and advise others on any of their gardening needs. Her passion for plants rubbed off on everyone that she helped. Carol loved the outdoors and in particular, she loved her trips up to northern Saskatchewan lakes. She was in her glory when she was catching walleye or picking wild berries. Carol was often seen at many activities supporting her grandchildren. From hockey rinks to football fields, swimming lessons or dance recitals, Grandma was their number one fan. Above all, Carol will be remembered for her genuine interest in people and her willingness to assist wherever the need may be. Friends so wishing may make a donation to Regina Palliative Care Inc., 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina S4T 7T1 or the Regina Floral Conservatory, P.O. Box 1790, Regina S4P 3C8. Carol knew how flowers could brighten a day. Feel free to send flowers to someone that you love in Carol's honour. Upon Carol's request, a memorial service will be announced at a later time when all flowers are in bloom. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.speersfuneralchapel.com
