Obituary of John Lasuita
LASUITA, John
Our beloved dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and husband, John Lasuita, passed away peacefully at home, on Monday, April 20, 2009. A gentle soul, with a quick wit and kind heart, he will forever be cherished and missed by his devoted wife of almost fifty-five years, Angella, and his five daughters, Mary-Anne (Don), Adele (Carman), Catherine (Martin), Christine (Peter), Pam (Graham); ten grandchildren: David (Andrea), Thomas, Michelle, Jack, Chloe, Mitchell, Daniel, Zackery, Samantha, Spencer; two great-granddaughters: Virginia, Natalie. He is also lovingly remembered by sisters Lena (Alex) Proznik, Theresa Gryba, Isabel (Bill) Podowski, sister-in-law Anne Lasuita and their families, as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John was predeceased by his parents, Steve and Mary and his brother Mike.
Dad was born on January 19, 1924 in the Wynyard farming community, the third of five children to Steve and Mary Lasuita. It was here that he developed his strong love of the land, faith and family. After working the family farm, he served in World War II, and then graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Agriculture. After meeting and marrying Mom in 1954, they raised a family of five girls in Yorkton, then Saskatoon and finally Regina. Dad retired from the Department of Agriculture, Provincial Government after thirty-six years of service. An honest, generous and hard-working father, he was a quiet man of few words, but they were always thoughtfully spoken with true meaning. He loved music, the pursuit of education, and the playful laughter of his cherished grandchildren. Even in his later years, while enduring illness, Grandpa John still had a sparkle in his eye and the energy to crack a witty joke, give a big hug, or take a spin on his bike. He found his strength in our Moms tireless love, compassion and dedication which enabled him to live in the comforts of his home right up until the end. It was their true bond of love that we will all be eternally grateful for. Rest in peace, dear Dad and for your hard work, your love and encouragement, and all that you have given, Thank you very kindly.?
