Obituary of John Dorosh

JOHN DOROSH July 6, 1924 " May 3, 2009 John Dorosh, 84, beloved husband of Steffa Dorosh, Regina SK passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Regina General Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents Alex and Annie (nee Yaschuk) Dorosh. John is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Steffa; his children: Arlene (Wilf) Horwath, and Rick (Sharon) Dorosh; grandchildren: Janelle (Bill) Weir, Kimberly (Chad) Marshall, Curtis Horwath (fiance Krista Haslund), and Kyle Dorosh; great-grandchildren: Sebastian and Emma Weir, and Jacob Marshall; brothers and sisters: Andrew Dorosh, Helen Killick, Ethel (Irwin) Klimack, Phyllis Zenkewich and Lavern Dorosh; brothers-in-law: Walter Parfenuik and Peter Yuristy; sisters-in-law: Kay Otchenash and Emma Parfenuik. John farmed in the Ituna area until 1957 when he moved to Regina to begin his career with the Canadian National Railway. In 1985, after twenty-eight years of service, John began his retirement. John loved to spend his time golfing, watching the Riders, playing Cribbage, traveling, building puzzles and spending time with his family. He was a man of strong faith and was a founding member of St. Athanasius Ukrainian Catholic Church, as well as a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood of Canada. Prayers will be held at St. Athanasius, 55 McMurchy Avenue, Regina SK on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 7:00 p.m., with the Funeral Mass to Celebrate Johns Life on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Athanasius Ukrainian Catholic Church with the Rt. Rev. Mitrat Leonard J. Romanow presiding. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of SK, 279 " 3rd Avenue N., Saskatoon SK, S7K 2H8 or to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada " Sask.
