Obituary of Carol Ann Krieser

KRIESER, CAROL In the early morning hours of Monday, May 4, 2009, Carol passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside after a courageous 1 1/2 year battle with ovarian cancer. Predeceased by her parents Emmanuel and Katherine Lang, brothers Harry and Wilf Lang, parents-in-law Wenzel and Annie Krieser, sister-in-law Marlene Lang and brothers-in-law Tim Krieser and George Beliveau. Survived by Ed her loving husband of 45 years, daughters Elan, Jacquie (Brad Gusway), sons Martin and Scott (Tara), grandchildren Darby Benson, Tyler (Tara Hastings), Rikki and Mitchell Gusway and Alyssa and Emily Krieser, brother Ed (Betty) Lang, sister Marilyn (Greg) Petroski, sisters-in-law Alice Lang, Caren (Gus) Rosenau, Marianne Beliveau, Rosemarie (Frank) Havelange, Diane (Dale) Negraeff, Debbie Lauridsen (Brian Meechan), Audrey Kreiser, Denise (Krieser) Urbanski, and Jenny Krieser, brothers-in-law Wayne Kreiser (Cynthia Willford) and Lindsay (Sherry) Krieser, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born on August 21/44 in Craik, Saskatchewan, Carol grew up in the neighbouring village of Ayelsbury and was active in sports, piano & especially the 4H Homecraft Club, where she developed her life long skills in cooking, sewing and arts and crafts. After high school, she graduated from Reliance School of Commerce and worked with the Dept. of Health, met and married Ed and then took 15 years to raise her family before going back to school and graduating with her Licenced Practical Nurse/ORT diplomas in 1982. She worked in nursing for several years with the Regina Medical Centre, Anaesthesia Associates and Plains Health Centre before switching to an office/administrative career, principally with the U of R and Dept. of Social Services, from which she retired in 2004. As an adult, she developed a passion for choral music, musical theatre and drama, singing with the Studio Singers and Dickens Yuletide Singers, performing in many musical productions with Lyric Light Opera, Regina Summer Stage and Souris Valley Theatre, and acting in and directing numerous performances with Regina Little Theatre, as well as serving on the executives of those organizations. She more recently also developed her visual artistic talents, and was becoming an accomplished acrylic artist when she was incapacitated by her disease. Carol and Ed loved to travel, and enjoyed vacations throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. Prayers and visitation will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue in Regina. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Cathedral on Friday, May 8 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Brian Meredith officiating, internment in Regina Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank all medical staff for their wonderful care throughout Carol's valiant battle with cancer. Also a special thanks to all friends and family for their prayers, cards, flowers and food gifts. Flowers are gratefully declined and in lieu contributions may be made in Carol's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Allan Blair Cancer Centre.
