Obituary of Darleen Elizabeth Burkholder

BURKHOLDER, DARLEEN ELIZABETH (nee Klippenstein) July 24, 1946 " May 9, 2009 We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our wife, mother and friend after a short battle with cancer. Darleen faced several forms of vicious disease with strength, courage and above all, a positive attitude. She lost her battle, with her family by her side, at the Palliative Care Unit in Regina Pasqua Hospital. She was 62. Darleen will be reunited with her parents, Abe and Doris Klippenstein; her father and mother-in-law, Alounzo and Ethel Burkholder; and God-child Joann Jennett "Joey". She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her husband of 43 years, Barry of Regina SK; her children, Curtis (Tammy) of Brooks, AB, Kirk (Terri Lynn) of Esterhazy, SK, and Lana (Jason) Selby of Regina, SK; her grandchildren, Jessica Jay, Jacob, Kirstyn, Kayleigh, Hudsyn and one honorary grandchild Kayja; her brother, Rob (Barb) Klippenstein of Winnipeg MB; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Darleen was a soft-spoken woman, she enjoyed spending summers at their site in Regina Beach, her walks through the campsite meeting new people, making new friends and the evening campfires reminiscing and laughing. She will be forever remembered as our "whistling Dixie?. A celebration of Darleen's life will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina SK with Rev. Don Wells officiating. The family thanks the many family and friends who showed their support and kindness over the past few months while we were going through this very difficult time. Extra thanks to the nurses and staff at the Palliative Care Unit for the compassion and understanding that was bestowed upon us, it was greatly appreciated.
