Obituary of Hazel Paulma Dornan

DORNAN, Hazel " late of Mutchmor Lodge in Regina (known to many as Grandma Hazel), died peacefully Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at the age of 96. Hazel was born in Iowa and moved to Saskatchewan with her parents, settling eventually in Midale when she was two years old. There she received her early education. She studied business at Outlook College and became a secretary. Hazel worked in a variety of office settings. She retired in 1974 after seventeen years as secretary at the main branch of Scotiabank in Regina. Hazel was predeceased by her parents, Hanz and Elizabeth Egland; her husband, Stan; four sisters, Johanna Barnreiter of Washington State, USA, Margaret (Clarence) Erickson of Midale, Evangeline (Norman)Tate of Alaska, Cora (Bernie) Kotlar of Saskatoon; and sister-in law, Fran Egland of Regina. She leaves to celebrate her memory, one daughter, Gloria (Don) Brock of Mississauga; two sons, Rodney (Margaret) of Winnipeg, and Dwaine (Barb) of Regina; twelve grandchildren; thirty-three great- grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Hazel worked many years to help support the family as well as maintaining the home and being active in her church. Hazel was a wonderful example of unconditional love. A celebration of Hazels life will be held at St. James United Church, 4506 Sherwood Drive on Friday, June 29, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Hazels memory, to United Church Housing Corporation, 328 Century Crescent, Regina S4T 6M1 or a charity of your choice.
